health project
The
Street-Side Health Project provides
drug users and sex workers with primary medical care and family
planning services at the Harm Reduction
Center and in conjunction with the Syringe
Exchange Program using a mobile medical clinic. Coordinated
by a nurse pracitioner and staffed by volunteer medical students
and physicians, services are provided free of charge without
regard to insurance.
The
project provides participants with:

HIV and Hepatitis testing and counseling
- screening
and treatment for sexual transmitted infections
- family
planning counseling
- access
to various methods of birth control (condoms, the pill, patch,
or DEPO)
- pregnancy
testing
- vaccination
and treatment for Hepatitis A and B and Influenza
- physical
and gyneological exams
- blood
sugar and blood pressure screenings

treatment for upper-respiratory infections, wounds, and abscesses
