Many of our services—syringe exchange, health care, and harm reduction—are delivered at the same sites for our consumers' convenience. All services, locations, dates, and times are listed below.

syringe exchange program

The Syringe Exchange Program provides new syringes for used ones for over 10,000 registered participants at six weekly exchange sites. Exchange participants access information and develop strategies for reducing the risk of HIV, hepatitis and other drug- and injection-related harm. Anonymous HIV testing and counseling; help with bench warrants and violations of probation and parole; and referrals for drug treatment, medical care and social services are provided at each exchange site.

The Street-Side Health Project provides free medical care, including family planning services, STI screening and treatment, hepatitis A and B vaccination, hepatitis C screening, wound care, and other services at three of the weekly syringe exchange sites. Patients do not need insurance or identification and may be treated for problems related or un-related to drug use.

harm reduction services center

The Harm Reduction Services Center (HRSC) at 166 W. Lehigh Avenue houses five activity and support groups, a medical clinic, a legal clinic and anonymous HIV testing. Additionally, it serves as headquarters for PPP’s community and street outreach efforts.

Legal Help at the HRSC and the Syringe Exchange Sites:

An attorney or law students are available to assist with clearing bench warrants and violations of probation and parole and other legal problems.

Come to a syringe exchange site (see list above), the HRSC at 166 W. Lehigh Ave. or call (215) 634-5272 for more information.

Referral Services at the HRSC:

PPP staff members are available to make referrals for drug treatment, behavioral health services, medical care, housing, food, etc. from 9 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Friday; and from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM on Saturdays.
